Summer By Design

Join us for a series of short camp opportunities in the arts. Providing variety for kids and flexibility for parents, Summer By Design has been crafted to provide a summer arts experience for children of various needs. Love Over Hate with K’bana Blaq

June 17-21 · Monday - Friday · 9:00 am - 2:00 PM · $65

Love Over Hate recognizes that building confidence and instilling a sense of community, identity, and independence are critical for today’s children. through music and theater, Love Over Hate camp will address current societal issues such as anti-bullying, self-esteem, and self-expression in a creative, fun environment. Music-making with Soundscapes

June 24-28 · Monday - Friday · 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM · FREE (open to students with at least 2 years of instrumental experience)

Come and enjoy music-making at the special Soundscapes’s summer camp. Limited spots are available. priority is given to level 1 through level 4 students. Free and open to any student with at least 2 years of instrumental experience. This summer camp is underwritten by a generous gift from the Petters Family Foundation. Gifted Hands Designz with Adrienne Terry-Bey

July 15-18 · Monday - Thursday · 9:00 AM - 12:00 (noon) · $50 · Ages: 7-12

Children can have fun making crafts with Adrienne Terry-Bey of Gifted Hands Designz, LLC. This week-long workshop features Picasso-inspired mask-making, printmaking with recyclables, shaving cream paper designs, and more! The kids will be able to take what they have learned to experiment with unique crafts at home with very affordable supplies used in very creative ways.

Dramatically Able II with Access Virginia

July 29 - August 9 · Monday - Friday · 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM · FREE

Enroll in Dramatically Able ii, a two-week series of theater sensory workshops for students 4th-12th grade who are blind or visually impaired. Come and learn about theater, engage in dramatic activities, attend a live theatrical performance and be a part of a cast in a showcase of performance where you get to show your talents! 25 Mics - Monthly Free Open Mic

Point, Aim & Shoot Photography Studio

Saturdays 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM · Free · Ages 10-18

Calling all aspiring young photographers! Check out our free photography group. Led by Michael Lemelle & Angela Gilliam, Point, Aim, & Shoot teaches young people how to find their creative voice. You can learn to use professional photography equipment, attend special events as the featured media crew, learn how to market your pictures, and participate in the production of documentary features.

No experience is required and beginners are welcome! Please call before your first visit. The PAS Photography Studio meeting times are subject to change in light of special events.



Mosaic Steel Drum Ensemble

Join the best steel pan performance group on the Peninsula! Interested in playing this fun musical instrument? Want to perform all over Hampton Roads? Join this steel drum class and learn how to play this magical instrument. Classes are taught by Mosaic Steel Orchestra and sponsored by the Newport News Arts Commission.
