DG Clubs

Youth ages 9-18 are invited to join our new clubs! With a variety of topics chosen by our community, there is something for everyone. Clubs are free to join and meet once a month, with the possibility of meeting more often based on interest. For questions, call 757-247-8950 or email downing-gross@nnva.gov.

AA at DG

Next meeting: Saturday, April 12 at 1pm.

The purpose of this club is to meet with other people to discuss your love and appreciation for anime. Learn about the history and different types of anime and explore the different aspects of anime from animators and voice actors.

Content Creatives

Next meeting: Saturday, April 12 at 12pm

Whether you want to start a podcast or social media page, meet others with the same interests or goals as you. Work on developing your personal brand and finding the right audience. Help each other discover new perspectives, unique ideas, and different possibilities. Share tips and gain advice on the technical side of things like production, equipment, and navigating different digital platforms. Join a community of creatives looking to connect!

Percussion Club

Next meeting: Saturday, April 26 at 10am

This club is set up to explore the fundamentals of percussion. Participants will learn cadence, timing, and how to create a fluid percussive sound by utilizing various tools. The skillsets learned in this club will be building blocks that open the door to other methods of rhythmic sound.

Art Club

Next meeting: Saturday, April 12 at 2pm

In this space, we love art! Come work on a WIP (work in progress) or simply freely create in our open studio. We will also use this space to discuss our favorite artists, art history, current art, and more. You will determine the direction this club takes and what we do, so bring your ideas and an open mind!

Karaoke Club

Next meeting: Saturday, April 12 at 2pm

This club is for all levels of performers. Participants are welcome to belt their favorite songs or get active feedback on performance. The club serves to break the fear barrier of public performance and will be a vehicle to increase confidence in oneself.

 

Writing Club

Next meeting: Saturday, April 12 at 10am

This club is created for youth interested in enhancing their writing skills. This club will identify each member's writing styles and find the skills that increase their mastery of the English language. Meeting monthly, this club will introduce participants to different forms of writing. Bring a writing implement and an open mind to create awesome literary art!
