Artist Feature!

Poetry Jackson was featured in Arts Undercurrent where she spoke about this exhibit. Thank you to Rebecca Evans and WHRO for their coverage of this exhibit.

About the Exhibit

20/20 is the measurement of central Visual Acuity, in essence, the quantity of one’s vision. How much can one see?

In the year 2020, artist Poetry Jackson plans to exhibit a collection of original thought-provoking works of art. Her inspiration is pulled from symbols of solar lights, exploration of color theory, landscape depth and perception studies, and the physical eye itself.  By combining Art, Poetry, and Science she gives to you, The 20/20 Visual Experiment.

January 3 - Poetry and Projections

On January 3, join the artist for Poetry and Projections, where she will be performing poetry as the art comes to life on the projector.  She will perform a collection of poems inspired by the exhibit. The goal is to cultivate a creative multidisciplinary experience with the images. After Poetry and Projections, join us in the gallery to further discuss and view the artist’s original paintings as well as her work with the Visual Arts Advancement Collective, of which Poetry is a founding member.

FYI, the artist invited patrons to express themselves creatively through dress. The most creatively dressed attendee won a personalized portrait from the artist, Poetry Jackson.

January 4 - Painted Poetry

On January 4, Jackson will lead a painted meditations workshop hosted by the exhibiting artist wherein patrons will be instructed to create a landscape exploring visual depth and perception.  This event is $27 per person.

About the Artist

Poetry Jackson

My collections are inspired by the books I read, the people I meet, the knowledge I have obtained, and the questions I seek. I use colors and symbols to convey abstract thoughts and emotions. I believe that through my Art I have the power to heal, inspire and enlighten. It feels like so much more than art to Me- I feel like I have been painting meditations. I have a deep passion for landscape art. I teach primarily landscape painting in my “Painted Meditations” adult and youth classes. The sky, water, and flowers all remind me to be patient and enjoy the cycles of life. They remind me to be grateful for my senses and that life is worth admiration.
