The Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center is proud to announce our inaugural Artist Residency Program with our very first Artist-in-Residence, Christopher Diont’e.

Christopher Diont’e is the creative force behind For Generations To Come, a dynamic platform that embodies his passion for art and design across various mediums. As a multidisciplinary artist, Christopher seamlessly weaves together the worlds of fashion design, woodworking, sculpture, and film, creating a rich tapestry of innovative and thought-provoking works.

With a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, Christopher’s fashion designs reflect a blend of innovation and timeless elegance, crafting garments that transcend mere trends and speak to the timeless essence of style.

In addition to fashion, Christopher's woodworking and sculpture practices showcase his commitment to sustainability and the beauty of natural materials. Each piece is thoughtfully crafted, merging traditional techniques with modern sensibilities, resulting in artwork that resonates on both a personal and universal level.

Christopher’s foray into film further amplifies his artistic vision, allowing him to explore narrative and visual storytelling. His films often serve as a medium for social commentary, highlighting themes of heritage, culture, and the human experience.

Driven by a desire to inspire future generations, Christopher’s work embodies the ethos of For Generations To Come. Through his diverse artistic endeavors, he aims to foster dialogue, provoke thought, and celebrate the rich tapestry of human creativity. Whether through a striking garment, a captivating sculpture, or a powerful film, Christopher Diont’e continues to leave an indelible mark on the art world.

The year-long residency will feature open studio visits, classes and workshops, pop-ups, and an exhibition integrating his various artistic disciplines.
