We Are The Music Makers! - Gallery Reception

Banner1.jpg

Join us for the reception for this exhibit during the annual Elder Anderson Johnson Visionary Arts Festival.

"We Are the Music Makers!" educates and engages viewers in the cultural history of traditional Southern music. The exhibit includes 30 panels - featuring 28 photos and stories from Music Maker musicians. A supplemental website provides audio and video components for each panel. The exhibit highlights how poverty, geography, and age have limited the exposure of these artists, questioning the widespread idea that these musical traditions they perform have "died out."

We Are the Music Makers: Preserving the Soul of America's Music is a multi-media exhibit of photographs, audio recordings and video from Tim Duffy, founder of Music Maker Relief Foundation.

The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. During the reception, there will be private tours of this exhibit, along with the permanent Anderson Johnson exhibit, Working in the Spirit. To receive private tour, please RSVP below.
