Description:
This groundbreaking "choreopoem" is a spellbinding collection of vivid prose and free verse narratives about and performed by Black women. Capturing the brutal, tender, and dramatic lives of contemporary Black women, FOR COLORED GIRLS... offers a transformative, riveting evening of provocative dance, music, and poetry.

Casting for the following roles:
1. SEVEN dynamic and diverse women of color with depth and range-novices and veterans. Performers with spoken word, movement, and/or singing abilities highly encouraged to audition.

For speaking roles, prepare a memorized dramatic monologue or poem (approximately 1 minute) AND 16 bars of an a cappella song excerpt of your choice (approximately 30 seconds - 1 minute). Note: it is not necessary to be a singer, but performers should be able to carry a tune. You will be asked to read excerpts from the show.

At callbacks (approximately a week after initial auditions) a dance will be taught, so come ready to move.
