Hiram And Nettie: A Slave Love Story

UPDATED brown text banner.jpg

This soul-stirring original play, created by poet and playwright Terrance Afer-Anderson, returns to the Ella Fitzgerald Theater. At its core, the story is about the power of love and human connection in one of the most divisive times in American history. Director Michael LeMelle brings this emotional performance to life, in recognition of 400 years since the arrival of Africans as slaves to the United States through Old Point Comfort in 1619. Due to certain scenes with intense imagery depicting violence associated with slavery, parental discretion is advised.
