Foundations of Watercolor

This six-week watercolor course is perfect for anyone who wants to explore the beauty of painting with watercolors. No experience needed! Whether you're completely new or just looking for a fun creative outlet, this class will guide you step-by-step to build your confidence and spark your colorful creativity all while having fun with this expressive and flexible medium. 

Materials

If purchasing a materials pack, please also select the $25 materials fee add-on which includes a discounted rate on your own pack of professional quality watercolor paper, watercolor brushes, and a watercolor palette. If bringing your own materials, the following are suggested but you may substitute your preferred brand:

Paper

  • Strathmore 300 Series Watercolor Pad, 11x15", 12 sheets – 140 lb cold press. Link

Pencils & Eraser: Optional – we will have a class set of pencils & erasers

  • 2 × 2B Graphite Pencils.

  • Soft or Kneaded Eraser.

Paint: Optional – we will have a class set of paints available

  • Shinhan Professional Watercolors (or a similar high-quality watercolor set). Link

  • Important: If you purchase this set, please do not squeeze the colors onto the palette on your own. We’ll be setting them up in a specific order based on color theory, which Avery will explain during class.

Palette

  • Plastic Watercolor Palette with 33 wells. Link

Brushes

  • 12-Piece Watercolor Brush Set (e.g., Royal & Langnickel’s Watercolor, Acrylic and Tempera 12-Piece brush set or similar). Link
