Choreographer David Riddick has created a full-evening multimedia dance theater collage (60–minute with one intermission). The performance commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s iconic I Have a Dream speech, delivered during the historic March on Washington in 1963. By bringing Dr. King’s powerful text into a performance setting, David Riddick explores not only the meaning of the speech itself, but creates a fusion of contemporary movement vocabulary with sounded oration, blurring the boundaries between spoken word and dance performance.
