Collection: “Reflections of Resilience”
While I am currently focused on acrylic as my medium, my work remains multifaceted both in style and medium. My practice is rooted in a quiet rebellion - against injustice and despair, against complacency and everything that serves as a catalyst for them.
My goal is not to mirror darkness, but to make every attempt to transform it. I explore the art of life by giving a powerful twist that challenges perspective and invites self-reflection. In “Reflections of Resilience”, I chose to turn the focus away from the negative narratives of the Newport News, Virginia, by highlighting the resilient accomplishments of the city as it continues to reconstruct and build.
My works serve as visual anchors for reflection, healing and personal evolution-becoming catalysts, sparking dialogue, inspiring growth, and quietly shifting the atmosphere of the spaces they inhabit. I have exhibited and sold my work in galleries, through commissions and art festivals, receiving recognition and a number of awards for my paintings. I choose to create from a place of clarity, compassion, and conscious resistance. I choose not to use my creative abilities to mirror the noise of the world. I aspire to offer something deeper, intentional art of substance with relevant messages that causes people to think, rethink, act and react.
