Intalek is a Virginia Beach-based hip-hop artist, songwriter, and multidisciplinary storyteller whose work explores identity, culture, and the experiences that shape everyday life. Performing and creating since 2006, his artistic journey has grown beyond recorded music into cultural experiences, technology, and immersive storytelling.
His latest project, A Short Story by Intalek, brings these disciplines together through original music, visual works, and interactive technology, creating a connected experience where each piece contributes to a larger narrative. Rooted in Virginia and informed by hip-hop culture, Intalek's work focuses on transforming personal stories into shared experiences.
Intalek's mission is to use hip-hop, storytelling, and art to translate lived experience into meaningful connections between people, culture, and community. His work explores how personal stories can become collective experiences, creating music that invites audiences not only to listen or observe, but to engage, reflect, and discover pieces of their own story within it.
About the Exhibit
“A Short Story by Intalek” makes its way to Newport News! This multidisciplinary exhibition fuses music and visual art into an immersive cultural experience, created by Virginia Beach-based hip hop artist and creative entrepreneur Intalek in collaboration with contemporary artist Short Story. The project presents original songs, written and performed by Intalek, each paired with a unique visual artwork by Short Story. These works explore themes of identity, legacy, and Black cultural storytelling, forming a narrative arc that is both deeply personal and universally resonant. Each song and painting are designed to work in tandem, offering audiences a multisensory journey through sound and sight.
The exhibition features artwork embedded with an NFC
enabled chip, allowing attendees to access exclusive music accompanying each piece and behind-the-scenes content.
The exhibition will be on display August 5 – September 7, 2027 with a reception and accompanying programming.
