About:

“Threads of Community: Fiber Arts at Downing-Gross", a showcase of artist and artisans who are part of the growing fiber arts community through Downing-Gross. Featuring our Hooks, Needles, and Looms Club members as well as invited Hampton Roads artists, this exhibition showcases the community and relationships built through textiles and emphasizes the importance of having space to create with others.

Exhibit on display August 24-September 10, 2026 with a closing reception on 9/9/26 from 6-8pm. The closing reception will include an interactive weaving demonstration where patrons can contribute to our Community Loom, as well as remarks from the artists about their individual textile practices. Free & open to the public. RSVP appreciated at www.downing-gross.org. Light refreshments served.

About Hooks, Needles, and Looms Club (HNLC): Started in Spring 2026, HNLC is a free club where participants work together to design and collaborate on communal projects creating works through crochet/knitting/weaving to display in our gallery, while also working together on their own projects.
