“Shadow. Sea & Symbol” brings together a body of work by artist Chris Jeanguenat that moves fluidly between the romantic and baroque, between land and sea, where nature becomes both subject and storyteller.
“Shadow. Sea & Symbol” features fanciful, mixed media artwork. will be on display in our Newport News Community Gallery from December 5, 2026 – January 15, 2027 with an opening reception & artist talk on December 5, 2026 from 2-4pm. Come and here from the artist herself about her inspirations, artistic process, and more. The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments served. RSVP appreciated.

Gilded Script- A Holiday Calligraphy Card Workshop:
Explore the fine art of calligraphy* this holiday season with artist Chris Jeanguenat! As a preview to her exhibit, “Shadow. Sea & Symbol”, Chris will lead participants in creating custom, homemade, fine art, holiday cards through calligraphy.
*What is calligraphy? Calligraphy (from Ancient Greek kalligraphía, or 'beautiful writing') is fine handwriting taken to the level of visual art.
Registration is FREE but a $15 materials fee is requested which covers a set of 2 calligraphy brushes and calligraphy paper.
